Unlikely Dinosaurs.

Unlikely as it seems,
The dinosaurs persist in dreams.

One of the problems that has always beset people who study dinosaurs is that we discover fossilised fragments of the original creature buried in the ground and then assemble them to understand the whole. Over the years, a number of errors have been made and perpetuated as a result of this process of rebuilding the jigsaw without the benefit of a plan.
Many of the early dinosaurs that were rebuilt are now thought to be unlikely, though they were once entirely believable.

They say that all the carbon in the universe was made in the hearts of dying stars.
So here we are hurtling through space, a ball of stardust sealed in a vacuum.
The carbon that made the dinosurs is with us still in you and I. We are the dinosaurs unlikely destiny.
And so are these.
The unlikely dinosaurs.

The Saureola.

The Saureola dangles from the trees
And quivvers shyly in the breeze.
He cannot run about because he's
Not got any knees.

The Fluffoth.

The Fluffoth's charge is a terrible thing
His motion is powered by the pull of a string.
But if you watch quietly you will discover
This raging foe is a soft fluffy lover.

The Shockyn.

I think you can see from the span of her jaw
That the Shockyn has experienced both shock and awe.
The awe that she felt when the first egg was laid then
The shock when it disappeared back up inside again.

The Awfulfin.

You can see from the Awfulfin's gluttonous glare
That he's waiting for something to fall in his lair.
And everyone knows there's nothing that saves
The creature that falls into Awfulfin's waves.

The Iguanatron.

The Iguanatron walks along
With focus and devotion.
As he walks he sings a song
And wiggles in his motion.

The Dinolite.

The low fat dino that glows in the dark
Is found on a keyring and not in the park.
Its throaty roar makes a terrible sight
As its tonsils glow with a strange red light.

The Ovomorph.

The Ovomorph burts out of its shell
Then bursts back in if things don't go well.
The moments surprise you can see on his face
Is hidden as the lid snaps back into place.

Rainbownessie.

Rainbownessie has a sore throat
And spends her time huffing,
Trying to clear her neck
Of all the fluffy stuffing.

The Crabsterine.

The Crabsterine is a bad dream
If you live in a fabric ocean
And ripples run along her seam
With an undulating motion.

The Braying Ragodon.

The Braying Ragodon
Is nearly up-ended.
His legs never seem to go
Where he intended.

The Stuffingerling.

The Stuffingerling's bright hues
Warn you where he goes.
He will crawl between your shoes
And bite your toes.

The Rhinoplastosaurus.

The Rhinoplastosaurus,
On his nose, has a torus.
He will tell the tale for us,
And bore us.

The Sportodon.

The Sportodon likes to win,
It's her only sin.
She's a real pussy-cat
Until she gets a bat.

The Smylodile.

Never trust a Smylodile,
The blue eyes are deceptive.
The white teeth part for a little while
Then the stomach is receptive.
